Star Cars di Vittorio Starace

Leaving from:  Salerno port

The shore excursion to Positano and Pompeii with wine tasting departing from the port of Salerno is ideal to enjoy the most of every feature of this stretch of the Campania region: the history and the art, the beauty of the views, la dolce vita and good food.

Your driver, who speaks perfect English will pick you up at the port of Salerno at 8.30am with a fully insured Mercedes car with all the comforts.

Positano, the Pearl of the coast

The first stop of our tour will be in Positano, the "Pearl of the Amalfi coast", famous worldwide for its urban structure where the houses look like they are built on top of each other. Here there will be free time to stroll through the narrow streets and staircases where local craft stores, linen, pottery and handmade sandals shops overlook.

You can also visit the Roman Villa discovered beneath the Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta and remained buried for almost ten centuries, and beaches that are among the finest in the world such as the Spiaggia Grande ( Big beach) and the Fornillo Beach.

After Positano, we will head towards the Vesuvius to visit a beautiful winery where you can have lunch with typical local products such as salame, provolone cheese, garlic bread, homemade bread with extra virgin olive oil from Campania and spaghetti with tomato and basil and taste the rosé, red and white Lacryma Christi wine to finish off with Italian spumante and an apricot liqueur as a digestif after tasting a typical Neapolitan dessert like the pastiera, an Easter cake stuffed with ricotta, cream and corn cooked in milk.

The last stop on our shore excursion from the port of Salerno is Pompeii, the ancient Roman city buried in 79AD by the fury of the volcanic eruption and remained under a blanket of lava and solidified powder for over 7 centuries.

It is possible to visit it alone with an audio guide or with a licensed guide from the Campania region.
Here you can visit the ancient patrician homes unearthed during the excavations, the Casa dei Vettii, the Villa dei Misteri and the Casa del Fauno, the Roman Foro, the political and religious centre of the city, the Tempio di Giove and that Iside, the Lupanare, the ancient brothel with sex scenes on the walls and the taverns, shops selling cooked food similar to modern restaurants.

The shore excursion to Positano and Pompeii ends with the return to the port of Salerno at about 4.30pm
