One of the best ways to get to know people is to sit at a table, discovering tastes that characterise its cuisine, recipes of its cooking tradition, typical products of its territory and the way they are cooked.
The gastronomic tour on the Sorrento Coast will be an unforgettable experience.
A precise and punctual driver will pick you up with a fully equipped Mercedes at an agreed time and accompany you to discover the typical farms in the area, places where you will take part in a real sensory experience that will satisfy your every sense and where you will discover the culinary excellence of our region.
Our gastronomic tour of the Sorrento Coast begins with a visit to an oil farm, one of the oldest and most renowned mills in Sorrento, where the best oil of the Sorrento Coast has been produced since 1850.
The olive tree is in fact one of the oldest crops in the area and along the way, you will see entire stretches of centuries-old olive trees, gleaming in the coastal sun, which are lovingly cared for by the farmers during the harvest period and who climb the highest branches to cut olive-laden branches, after spreading out green sheets under the trees to avoid losing even a single precious fruit.
Here you will have a unique experience learning how olives are traditionally treated to prepare them for squeezing and the various processing stages to get the extra virgin olive oil called ‘green gold’ that is used as seasoning for all the best Italian recipes.
Our gastronomic tour of the Sorrento mill continues with the tasting of oils sometimes flavoured in a thousand ways to make their flavour unique and exceptional but often enjoyed simply on bread, to enjoy the rich scent and unique flavour as did our ancestors who offered it as a snack to children along with sugar.
Our gastronomic tour in Sorrento, in the flavours of Southern Italy, continues with a visit to a dairy, a mozzarella and cheese factory. Here a master dairyman will explain the various procedures for the production of the most important cheeses of Sorrento: the mozzarella also called fior di latte which is one of the main ingredients of a Neapolitan pizza; ricotta, a dairy often used in pastries and the provolone del monaco, a mature cheese that has been produced since the 1700s and is very renowned for its pure taste or with olive oil and fresh herbs drunk with a good full-bodied and aged red wine.
During lunch, this taste experience will end up with a stop at a famous restaurant in Sorrento where, after wearing a real chef's hat and a pizza maker's apron, you can make your own pizza, seasoning it with organic products like tomatoes, fior di latte mozzarella, olive oil and basil and eat it after having fun baking it together with the restaurant’s chef.
Our journey in the flavours of Sorrento Coast will end in the afternoon with a visit to a family-run company, which has been producing the most renowned liqueurs of Sorrento lemons, citrus fruits and Mediterranean herbs: Limoncello, Mandarin Liqueur, Orange Liqueur, Liquorice Liqueur, Myrtle Liqueur and Limoncello Cream since 1935.
You can watch the liqueur preparation, have a taste and buy these priceless liqueurs that are bottled in characteristic and particular hand painted bottles, great souvenirs for friends and family.
The Star Cars in Sorrento Coast food tour on the Sorrento Coast ends with a late afternoon return to your hotel.
